For more ordinary jobs such as single walls or small rooms, a high-volume low-pressure sprayer is probably your best bet. They are sold in the usual home-improvement do-it-yourself centers. Being low-pressure is good because it helps prevent paint splashes.
Before buying a paint sprayer, know the type of job you'll be using it for. Ask the salesperson for advice on buying the right equipment. Consider also whether you'll be doing enough paint work to justify buying a sprayer. The old-fashioned way is a good physical workout and is much cheaper. But if the job is big enough to warrant extra equipment, you'll find a sprayer an incredible saver or time and energy.
